The long struggle between the German emperors of the Holy Roman Empire and the Italian city states dominated much of the later Middle Ages. The Battle of Cortenuova, where the Germans routed the Italian Lombard League, was one of its largest battles. We have chosen a sword as one that could have been used by either side in that great battle. Brass parts and a leather wrapped wood grip complete this striking one-handed cutting sword. Scabbard included.
