1830 Ames Bowie

This beauty originally was most likely a gift from Ames Cutlery to Captain Washington Hood of the US Army for his design services. Hood was also known for his work mapping the American Frontier and for planning roads in rough Texas territories. A fitting gift and handsome, any soldier would have been proud to carry this. Replicated from 1085 hand forged, high carbon steel. Features a German silver crossguard, one-piece coffin shaped hardwood handle which is fastened by four silver pins, each with small square silver escutcheon, large silver inlay center of each side. Includes black leather sheath with wide brass tip. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts. Can be seen in “The Bowie Knife” book by N. Flayderman on pages 40-41. Cannot use Paypal as payment option.
