Early Bowie
Best guess at an auction we saw recently placed this around the early 1800’s and pre-Civil War. The unusual shape intrigued us. The name on it read George Bryson, Birmingham which makes this English in origin. Add to that the odd combination of brass washers / pins through the wood scales, brass accent scales affixed to the wood and upswept, compact bowie blade and you’ve got a real curiosity. Highly functional and strong with full profile tang, this unique piece of history was probably a custom job for a frontiersman or explorer. Big enough to do it all. Includes a brown leather belt sheath, just like the original. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts. Cannot use Paypal as payment option.
